Leaving Krafton, PUBG Creator Makes Game "Prologue"

Leaving Krafton, PUBG Creator Makes Game "Prologue"

The figure who led the development of the Player Unknown's Battleground (PUBG) game, Brendan Greene, decided to leave Krafton. Apart from the game studio that produced PUBG, Greene chose to make his own game.

He conveyed this through a video of about five minutes which was uploaded via a Twitter account with the handle @PLAYERUNKNOWN.

PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions itself is a new game studio that he founded. In the video, the first game made by PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions will carry the title Prologue.

"Prologue is our first step towards realizing what we've always dreamed of, which is a game with an interactive open world environment," Greene said in the video.

Prologue itself at first glance looks different from PUBG which involves elements of war gameplay using weapons. However, the essence of the two games is practically the same, namely survival.

In Prologue, players will travel in an open world, while surviving in extreme weather by searching for shelter, food, and tools useful for the export process. The world that will be explored on its own, if you see a 30-second teaser video uploaded to the game studio's official YouTube channel, seems to have a good visual quality. Uniquely, the PUBG creator claims that the virtual world in this game will be built using a neural network system aka AI, in order to create a wide and realistic open world.

The player's mission in the Prologue game is to reach a specified point on the map. Players are also equipped with various equipment that can be used to facilitate access to these destinations.

Even though the gameplay is a little bit exposed, Greene did not mention when the Prologue will be officially released, as well as the platforms that will be visited. What is clear, he said that this game will later carry a tech demo model.

This means that players have to spend a little money if they want to continue the game to the next stage, as summarized by KompasTekno from VentureBeat, Wednesday (8/9/2021).

This was implemented to help the development team for the new game, which is quite natural because PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions is a new game studio even though Krafton actually owns a small stake in the game studio.
